Lecturers Secure Two Awards at International Conference STISWB 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A team of lecturers from Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) achieved remarkable success at the 16th International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Well-Being (STISWB 2024), held from July 14-17, 2024, in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The team won both the Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award for their research titled &#8220;IoT and RCNN Integration for Advanced Real-Time Building Occupancy Monitoring.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The research team, comprising Mr. Panudech Tipauksorn, Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert Luekhong, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Krisda Yingkayun, presented an innovative integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (RCNN) technologies for real-time building occupancy monitoring. The project aims to enhance building security, access management, and prevent accidental lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>The study analyzed over five hundred thousand CCTV images using the RCNN algorithm to accurately count people in various areas of a building. This data is then used for real-time decision-making to control building access through an IoT system. Test results showed that the system could count people with less than 5% error and the IoT system effectively controlled doors 97.5% of the time.
